Rochelle Company recalls green salads in fear of salmonella

I feel bad for companies when something in their production process goes wrong and they are forced to issue a recall. It’s even worse when it’s a local business.

That local business is BrightFarms, located in Rochelle, and the recall is due to the fact that their green salads, sold in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana, have potentially been contaminated with salmonella.

We have seen many salmonella recalls over the years, and I have no doubt we will see many more. But when you ask a little (like I did in the office here this morning) you’ll find that many of us have little or no idea what it means to be infected.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often have fever, diarrhea (which can be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can cause the body to enter the bloodstream and produce more serious illnesses such as arterial infections (ie.

As someone who had a Salmonella infection when I was in my early teens, I can tell you from firsthand experience that this is nothing you want to mess around with. I picked it up through contact with contaminated water, not a food product. It took several weeks for me to start feeling human again.

You may want to take a look at your current inventory of products as this product has been sold widely in the Rockford area. Here’s what you’re looking for, according to a statement from BrightFarms and the FDA:
