Police continue to search for suspects in shooting

Yakima Police said a fatal shooting last Thursday on Cornell Avenue was linked to a gang. The investigation continues today. The shooting left a man killed and a woman injured.
Officers were called to the 1100 block of Cornell Avenue around 6:30 p.m. last Thursday. Upon arrival, they found a fatally shot man in the driver’s seat of a black Impala in front of a house. The man was shot in the throat and died instantly. The man’s wife, 26, was also injured and is expected to recover at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Authorities say they believe the shooting was linked to local gangs and that agents from the city’s gang unit worked throughout the weekend to find clues that could lead to an arrest.
But they need your help. Authorities say they are looking for a white sedan they believe is the suspect vehicle. Officers also hope residents in the area will share any video they have from security cameras that could help identify those wanted by police. If you have any information, contact Yakima Police at 509-575-6200.

If you have a security camera in your home, the department invites you to get involved in the SafeCam program.
If you have a video security camera in your home, you can help people solve crimes in your area. Registration is voluntary and the police will not have remote access to your camera. All you need to do is register your camera and answer a few simple questions.
A press release says that using the geographic locations of recorded cameras, the ministry will be able to ask people to check their CCTV system for a specific date and time of when the incident occurred in their area. If a useful video is found, you should contact the police so that they can retrieve the video and possibly solve a crime.
