New candle store to house other local dishes |

SUNBURY – Just months after starting to make candles and melted wax on her stove, Korrine Fetter is ready to expand her storefront in downtown Sunbury.

The Kays Bliss brick and mortar location opened in Sunbury on Friday at 362 Market Street. It is the culmination of a rapidly growing online business into a boutique to sell its handmade candles as well as other merchandise from local businesses. Fetter said she plans to donate five percent of all profits to the National Coalition of Women Against Violence and Exploitation.

Fetter said Kays Bliss started about five months ago. She was looking for something to do while spending time with her three children at home.

“I wanted something for myself,” said the stay-at-home mom. “It was something I could do at home with my kids. I thought, ‘I love candles myself, why not give this a try.’ “

Using a wax crucible, tin cans, and his stove, Fetter began experimenting with different scents, scents, wicks, and vessels.

Although she doesn’t know much about candle making, Fetter said she does what everyone does today when they need to learn how to do something: she Googled it. .

“Lots of internet research,” she said. “YouTube, Google was a big help.”

Also with the help of friends and family, Fetter said they were able to rehabilitate a storefront on Market Street.

Kays Bliss will sell everything from 5 to 8 ounce candles, wax molds and smaller wax tarts, up to 48 ounce candles. They come in flavors ranging from Ocean Breeze and Farmhouse to Patchouli and Fireball Whiskey. She said her storefront and online store have around 20 fragrances.

Customer favorite scents so far have been April Fresh Downy and Hippie Chick, a “good vibes” candle, Fetter said. Fetter’s personal favorite is Hippie Chick, whose website has the following description: “Girl, kick back and relax with this beautiful, unique, woody, patchouli scented candle. Mixed with herbs and crystals. It really is a candle of good vibes.

Fetter has had an online presence both on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/kaysblisscandles1/) and the website of his store (https://kaysbliss.org/), which were successful enough that she opened the store last week.

“I’ve had a lot of positive reviews and we’ve done well online so we’re going to try this,” she said.

Another draw, Fetter hopes, are merchandise from other local suppliers of Jennifer’s Country home-made farm decor, Crazy Shepherd Lady t-shirts, affordable jewelry for adults and kids, handcrafted garden gnomes. , various tumblers and even security defense kits.

Tiffany Fairbrother sells key chains and self defense tools, and has affiliations with sources for other self defense and security products, including jewelry equipped with a button that immediately sends a panic message to five personal contacts, letting them know where you are and when you need help.

She also plans to sell hand-made concealed transport items like belts and handbags.

“My ultimate goal in having these products in her store is literally to save lives for the community of Sunbury,” or anywhere else, said Fairbrother.

“The point is, attackers are everywhere. While we can’t stop them, we can certainly be prepared for them. I’d rather have protection and not need it than not have it and need it, ”she said.

Kays Bliss on Market Street is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed on Sunday and Monday.
