Liberty-Eylau has a new high school principal. The LE Independent School District recently announced that Dr. Roshea Phillips will be the new principal of Liberty-Eylau High School.
Phillips is originally from Jackson, Mississippi, but according to a press release, she moved to the Dallas area in 1996 and spent 22 years there before moving to northeast Texas.
Phillips is well qualified for the position as she earned her undergraduate degree from Alabama State University, her Masters in Educational Guidance from Amberton University in Garland, Texas, and she earned her PhD in Curriculum Teaching and Texas Tech University teacher training.
“I absolutely want to develop a climate and a culture where students feel safe. I want our students to know that they can achieve any of their goals here at Liberty-Eylau. We will develop a system that will allow them to explore career areas while they are still in high school.
Another added bonus is that Phillips was a high school counselor for 10 years and also taught college science for eight years.
“I really think that having trained as a school counselor has helped me educate children where they are. “
Kudos to Dr Phillips and if you see her in town, be sure to welcome her to the Texarkana area.
