How have things been since our last conversation together? Davis returns to GOBankingRates to tell us how the business has grown since first opening its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, taking candle creations on the road and whether we can expect to see a storefront going forward. open.

One year after our last contact with you, what’s new in the company? How have the company and its offerings developed?

Since the last time we spoke, I’ve grown my business enough that I’m now located in three stores, including Wadsworth, Shelby, and Polaris Mall, all in Ohio. I also continue to travel to select events, inside and outside my home country.

I have grown tremendously in the last year. I added many new products and increased my customer base, which now includes people ordering from all over the United States. My husband helps with packing, my daughter helps with inventory, and my grandson fills in where I need him. The great thing about their help is that they work for free, but I can’t track orders that come in. I plan to hire an employee in a month or two.

Bonus offer: Find a chequing account that fits your lifestyle. $100 bonus offer for new current account customers.

People are drawn to the fact that I am ready to personalize any candle and add the personal touch they ask for. I recently completed an order for a woman who wanted her dog to be the main part of the candle. This dog has one blue eye and one brown eye, and several other distinctive traits. This client was so happy that she recommended me to several of her friends. Now I have a lot of new customers with just one product!

Take our survey: Do you tip for service?

You mentioned in 2021 that one of the most rewarding parts of being in business is traveling. Where have you traveled with your candles?

I traveled to Erie, PA. I also visited different cities in the state of Ohio including Findlay, Toledo, Colebrook, Wapakeneta, Plymouth, Akron and Columbus.

Some events include Christmas in the Village, Polaris Mall, Holiday Mart, Barberton Mum Festival, Spring Fling and several from Cloud Productions, located at the Hancock County Fairgrounds.

Bonus offer: Bank of America $100 bonus offer for new online checking accounts. See the page for more details.

How has inflation affected your business and how are you dealing with it?

Inflation was extremely brutal, because the price of everything increased a lot. I raised my prices slightly, but not enough to affect business.

One thing I pride myself on is not overloading my products. One of the reasons I’ve been so successful is that I keep my price low enough that anyone can afford candles and fondants, even on a strict budget. It makes me and my customers happy.

What future for No Common Scents gifts in 2022?

I plan to open my own shop in the next year. Hope the business continues to grow. I love what I do and I’m extremely proud of what I’ve accomplished.

Maybe one day you will see my products in stores all over the United States… or at least outside of Ohio!
