12 events to celebrate Owatonna’s GEM DAYS

Owatonna’s Gem Days celebration is in full swing from Thursday July 22 to Sunday July 25. The activities started last weekend.   1. Sidewalk Sales – Take advantage of great deals at Owatonna businesses Thursday through Saturday.
  2. Food Vendors / Food Trucks – Those listed as available include the American Dairy Association of Steele County Malt Stand, The Lunch Box, Schem’s Kettlecorn, Big Red, Ole & Lena’s, Kona Ice and Dimitri’s Greek Gyros & Kabobs Thursday through Saturday around Central Park.
  3. Orphanage Museum Tours – Take a self-guided tour of Owatonna’s Precious Museum in West Hills Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  4. 11-7 Concert: Listen to some great music live in Central Park on Thursday night. Bring your own lawn chair and get comfortable.
  5. Children’s Mask Parade – Friday at 9:30 am on Broadway. Line up at the Owatonna Education Center, formerly Washington Elementary School. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. A crazy hairdressing competition will follow in Central Park.
  6. Zumba – Start Friday with a cool 10am workout in Central Park.
  7. Owatonna Farmer’s Market – Pick up fresh food and other items at the Saturday Farmer’s Market 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Central Park.
  8. Gus Car Show & Fundraiser – The 7th Annual Car Show takes place at Gus Station in the Old Town of the Steele County Historical Society from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 .
  9. Steele County Historical Society Tours – Tours are scheduled to the Orphanage Museum, Wells Fargo Bank, and downtown Owatonna.
  10. River Springs Water Park – Cool off with special Sunday admission prices
  11. Turbo Kick Class – Get another great workout to start your day in Central Park at 12 o’clock.
  12. Enjoy the Great Outdoors – Owatonna Parks and Recreation Summer Weekend is also celebrated this weekend.
